'Devil', the period spy thriller, will hit the cinemas on December 29 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam on a pan-Indian scale. Samyuktha Menon of 'Virupaksha' fame is its heroine.
The makers have revealed that Nandamuri Kalyanram will be donning Bharatiya looks in the film. Costume Designer Rajesh tuned into the vision of director-producer Abhishek Nama for the hero's character. "I ensured that the costumes complemented Kalyanram’s character and characterization. The protagonist in the film is a British spy born and brought up in India. From the Dhoti to the waistcoat and other apparel, the lead man's costumes in the film reflect an authentic clothing style that is rooted. In all, you are going to see him in ninety different costumes reflecting a multitude of Indian styles," Rajesh says.
As many as 60 blazers made of Mohair wool fabric (sourced from Italy) were used. "Inside the blazer, a Kurta and a Dhoti made from Indian cotton were stitched. The fabric consumption for each costume (blazer, kurta and dhoti) was up to 11.5 meters. Around 25 waistcoats were deployed to up the fashion sense. A hanging watch (sourced from a Delhi-based heritage watch collector) was brought in to accentuate the appeal of the blazer near the pocket," Rajesh adds.
With dialogues written by Srikanth Vissa, the film has music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Soundar Rajan S and Tammiraju have done the cinematography and editing, respectively. Gandhi Nadikudikar has taken care of production design.
