Nandamuri Kalyanram's 'Devil', coming with the tagline 'The British Secret Agent', has courted controversy. On Thursday, a new poster of the film didn't feature its director's name. Producer Abhishek Nama was credited with directing the movie. The poster was put out by the official social media handles of Abhishek Pictures.
Till recently, the director's name on posters and YouTube videos related to the spy thriller was Naveen Medaram. All of a sudden, his name has stopped being used. As if to protest the removal of his name, Medaram took to Instagram and wrote this in Sanskrit: Vinashakale Viparitha Buddhi. This is quite a strong phrase to be used against anyone.
All this has convinced the media and a section of the audience that not all is well between the director and the producer. The film is slated to be released in theatres on November 24. And we won't know the official word until the makers kick off the promotions.
To be sure, the film looks promising. Its teaser showed promise. Thanks to the genre, 'Devil' might actually take surprisingly encouraging openings.
With dialogues written by Srikanth Vissa, the film has Samyuktha Menon as the heroine.
