Malavika Mohanan is known for 'Petta' and 'Master'. The Tamil and Malayalam actress recently commented that she doesn't endorse the moniker 'Lady Superstar'. As per her, Bollywood's female superstars like Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone are called just superstars and not lady superstars.
Now, who is called the 'Lady Superstar'? It is Nayanthara. Malavika didn't take the name of the 'Connect' and 'Sye Raa' actress. Yet, sections of the media have been trying to create a controversy based on Malavika's comments in an attempt to attract viewership.
The title 'Lady Superstar' is something Nayan didn't ask for. Malavika only made the remarks because putting a gender-related term only before female actors' names is nothing but sexism.
There is a history to the controversy, though. Malavika once mocked a scene featuring Nayan, saying that the 'Sri Rama Rajyam' and 'Babu Bangaram' actress was seen with perfect make-up in a hospital scene in a Tamil movie. This didn't go down well with Nayan, who later commented that it was not a realistic movie but a commercial one.
