Thalapathy Vijay is undoubtedly the biggest Tamil star as far as the Tamil audience are concerned. However, his movies take time to gain buzz in Telugu. They click only if the content is strong. Otherwise, they don't generate massive openings.
'Leo' is slated to head to the theatres on October 19. It will clash with 'Bhagavanth Kesari' and 'Tiger Nageswara Rao during Dasara in Telugu. The Tamil version of the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is registering solid numbers. At the time of writing, the action thriller has grossed $420K from premiere advance sales in the US. This has come about even before the release of the trailer.
However, the Telugu version will see a surge only if the trailer becomes a success. The trailer for 'Vikram', Lokesh's previous directorial, was very good. The Telugu audience (a lion's share of Leo's viewership is going to almost exclusively come from the young generation) are expecting the trailer to be a dekko. Anirudh Ravichander's music for the trailer has to be stunning, especially because the two songs released thus far are not memorable.
The question is, can the trailer for 'Leo' change the game?
